Key takeaways

  • PONSUM reads Robinhood Chain wallets directly from the chain, with no account and no sign up.
  • Importing, classifying, reviewing and the on-screen tax summary are free.
  • A yearly plan, paid in ETH, unlocks every report download and onchain anchoring.
  • Report IDs can be anchored on Robinhood Chain and checked by anyone on the verify page.

PONSUM is live on Robinhood Chain. It is tax and portfolio software built for one network: it reads your wallets straight from the chain, works out what each transaction means for tax, and builds reports that can be checked against the chain later. This post explains what it does, how it treats your data and what it costs.

Why a tax app for one chain

A tool that covers many networks has to describe each of them in general terms. Robinhood Chain has its own mix of activity, from Robinhood Tokens that track stocks and ETFs to launches on ponsfamily, and each of those leaves different traces onchain.

Focusing on one chain lets PONSUM read the events that protocols on Robinhood Chain actually emit: Uniswap V3 and V4 swaps, ponsfamily curve trades and fee claims, WETH wraps and liquidity positions. It also lets PONSUM recognise Robinhood Tokens by their full onchain name instead of their ticker, which matters on a chain where memecoins borrow stock tickers.

What you can do for free

There is no account to create. Paste any address, or connect a wallet, and PONSUM starts reading. All of this is free:

  • Importing the wallets you use and syncing their new activity.
  • Automatic classification into buys, sells, trades, wraps, liquidity moves, launchpad trades, income and more.
  • A portfolio view with balance, total return, unrealized gain, fees paid and a value chart.
  • Review, which lists what needs a decision and how to fix it.
  • A spam filter that hides junk tokens, with a way to bring them back.
  • Harvest, which shows holdings that are worth less than they cost.
  • A tax summary on screen for any year, country and cost basis method.

What a plan adds

A plan unlocks every report download and onchain anchoring for a workspace for 365 days. The four tiers are set by how many transactions a tax year holds: Rookie for 100, Hobbyist for 1,000, Investor for 10,000 and Trader for 100,000. At launch they cost 0.004, 0.012, 0.03 and 0.06 ETH a year, and the app reads the current price from the PONSUM registry before you pay. The pricing page has the details.

Reports include a summary, capital gains, income, expenses, holdings, transactions, an audit report and a tax-loss harvesting report, plus Form 8949 and Schedule D layouts for the United States and a generic CSV. Each can be downloaded as a CSV file, and the main reports also come as a printable document.

Reports you can verify

Every PONSUM report has an ID made from its contents. Change a single number and the ID changes. With a plan, you, or an accountant you have given access, can anchor that ID on Robinhood Chain together with the tax year, country, method and transaction count. Anyone who receives the report can paste the ID into Verify a report and see whether it was anchored, when, and whether a corrected report has replaced it.

An anchor does not prove the numbers are right, because that depends on the records behind them. It proves the report has not changed since it was anchored, which is what an accountant or a reviewer needs to know. There is more in how to verify a report onchain.

Country rules

PONSUM ships rule sets for 24 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany and Japan, and uses a generic rule set everywhere else. Each rule set knows the country's tax year, its holding period rules where they exist and the cost basis methods it allows, from first in, first out to average cost and UK share pooling. Every country note in the app is dated, because rules change.

What PONSUM is not

PONSUM is not an exchange, a wallet or an adviser. It never holds funds, it cannot trade for you and it does not file tax returns. What it does is give you and your accountant a careful record of what happened onchain and the arithmetic that follows from the rules you choose, with its workings shown so they can be checked.

How it handles your data

PONSUM is read-only by design. It reads public chain data through a proxy that only allows read requests, and it never asks for private keys or seed phrases. Your workspace, including wallet labels, categories you changed and cached chain data, is stored in your own browser. The only things that reach the chain are transactions you choose to sign in your wallet: buying a plan, linking a wallet, granting an accountant access or anchoring a report. The security page explains the model in full.

For accountants and teams

A client can grant an accountant's wallet access with one onchain transaction, and every client who does appears in that accountant's Clients view. Accountants can pay for a client's plan and anchor reports on the client's behalf. Teams can keep every treasury wallet in one workspace, with labels, category overrides and the audit report. See PONSUM for accountants and PONSUM for businesses.

Getting started

  1. Open the app and paste a Robinhood Chain address, or connect a wallet.
  2. Choose your country, so tax years and cost basis methods match your rules.
  3. Wait for the import to finish, then clear anything waiting in Review.
  4. Read the tax summary, and pick a plan when you want the reports.

Stay in touch

Follow @ponsumapp on X for updates, and send a direct message there when PONSUM gets something wrong or misses a protocol you use. The $PONSUM coin is planned for launch on ponsfamily. It is not needed to use the app, and plans are paid in ETH.

PONSUM is software, not tax advice. Check your local rules or ask an accountant.

See your own numbers

Paste a Robinhood Chain address and PONSUM builds your tax summary in the browser. No sign up.
